It's about time... Lets talk about England!

Way back in July I went to England & Scotland for 2 weeks with two of my very good friends. I was thinking about it the other day and couldn't believe I'd forgotten to share our trip on my blog. What better time than now to think of nicer places to be, when it's in the -20's (celsius), snowy and rotten outside. I'll post about our trip in a series over the next little while.

First off, let me introduce you to "Meg". Another good friend of ours couldn't come on the trip as she was expecting. So we thought we'd make a "Meg" that we could bring along and take photos with along the way, so she'd be there in spirit. Ah yes, so cliche, but it was fun!

We took the "red eye" to London and arrived at about 7:00am local time. We didn't sleep much on the plane so we were definitelyl a bit tired but had a lot on our agenda, so off we went!
This was the street our hostel was on. The buildings were so neat.

I think I find old buildings especially interesting because here in Canada, our "old" buildings really aren't old at all compared to Europe's standards. It amazes me how well the buildings have survived over time. We dropped our bags and went on to tour London.

I believe this is Picadilly Circus, it's a famous intersection. I wish we would have time to visit the museum but unfortunately we didn't. Do you see the church in the background? I'm afraid I don't remember what it was called but it was very interesting inside.

Ah yes, there's a better view of it.

Isn't the inside of it just gorgeous? It was so quiet and peaceful, the lady playing the violin at the front really added to the ambience.

More to come tomorrow! We spent 2 days in London but did SO much that it'd make for a terribly long post if I tried to cram it all in. Tomorrow's post on Hyde Park and Kensington Palace.

  1. Cool! I've lived in England nearly 11 years and have only been to London twice (even though I'm only 100 miles north of it). The first time we just had a quick look around and the 2nd, was to visit a friend but I mostly hung out at her house. Never got to see all the touristy stuff so I will live vicariously through you! :)
